Bakau station in detail

Bakau takes its name from bakau wood, once used locally for building foundations, and today it's a straightforward residential stop serving the HDB blocks around Compassvale and the edge of Rivervale. There's no mall or hospital pulling extra footfall here, just a coffee shop and provision stores at ground level and a station built to move residents efficiently. It sits roughly in the middle of the East Loop, three stops out from Sengkang, which makes the return trip about the same length as the trip out, since the loop keeps running the same direction regardless of which way you boarded.

Facilities at Bakau
Bakau sits close to the midpoint of the East Loop, so unlike stations nearer either end, the ride to Sengkang and the ride away from it take roughly the same time — there's no clever shortcut to look for here.
