The NSL at a glance
The North South Line (NSL) is one of the six MRT lines in Singapore. It is run by SMRT Trains, it has 27 stations over 45 km, and it opened on 7 November 1987.
The North South Line is where the Singapore MRT began. Its first stretch opened on 7 November 1987 between Yio Chu Kang and Toa Payoh, and it has been the spine of the network ever since. Today its 27 stations run in a long arc from Jurong East in the west, up through Woodlands on the Malaysian border, then down the middle of the island through Ang Mo Kio, Bishan and Novena to Orchard, City Hall and Marina South Pier. If you are visiting Singapore, this is the line that takes you to Orchard Road for shopping and to Marina Bay for the skyline — and it is the line most residents in the northern towns use to get to work.

Gold rings mark the interchanges. Tap any station for its exits, what is nearby, connections and travel times.
Between Jurong East and Bukit Batok the North South Line shares its tracks and platforms with the East West Line, which is why Jurong East has that unusual three-platform layout. Two more stations are still to come on this line: Brickland (between Bukit Gombak and Choa Chu Kang, due 2034) and Sungei Kadut (2035), which will also become a Downtown Line interchange.
