Fusionopolis and Biopolis, the towers-and-labs clusters that anchor the district's engineering and biomedical research industries, sit within a few minutes of the exits, alongside Mediapolis's television and film studios a little further south. Wessex Estate, a conserved 1940s British military housing estate now home to small cafés and creative studios, adds an older, low-rise counterpoint to the glass and steel around it. On weekdays the station is busy with researchers and office workers; at weekends it is markedly quieter.
