The SK LRT at a glance

The Sengkang LRT (SK LRT) is one of the three LRT systems in Singapore. It is run by SBS Transit, it has 14 stations over 10.7 km, and it opened on 18 January 2003.

The Sengkang LRT is an automated feeder system that wraps around Sengkang new town in two loops — East and West — both hanging off Sengkang station, where it meets the North East Line. Its 14 stations opened from 18 January 2003 onwards, and it is how most of Sengkang’s residents start their journey: LRT to the interchange, then the NEL into town. The trains are driverless Crystal Movers and the ride is short — no stop on either loop is more than a few minutes from the hub.

Did you know?

Because it is a pair of loops rather than a line, an LRT train here can only be going one way round: check the direction on the platform indicator, or you will do a lap of the estate you did not plan. Changing to the MRT at Sengkang is inside the paid area, so it costs you nothing extra.

Where you can change from the SK LRT

Changing lines is free: the fare is worked out from the distance of your whole journey, not from how many trains you take.

Good to know: engineering works and renewal programmes can mean early closures or late openings on some sections, usually announced a few weeks ahead. Check the alerts before you set off.
