Mattar station in detail

Mattar sits between Geylang Bahru and Ubi in a mixed residential and light-commercial pocket named after Mattar Road. MacPherson Mall and the Geylang East Public Library are within a few minutes' walk, along with a scatter of places of worship — the Church of St Stephen, Grace Baptist Church and Masjid Sallim Mattar among them — that reflect the area's long-settled, multi-faith character. The Circle Line's MacPherson interchange is close enough to be useful if you need to switch onto that line without doubling back into the city. Like several of its neighbours on this stretch of the Downtown Line, Mattar is a station built for residents first, with little aimed at passing visitors.

Facilities at Mattar
If you need the Circle Line, it's usually quicker to stay on the Downtown Line one more stop to MacPherson and change there than to backtrack from Mattar on foot.

Mattar — frequently asked questions
MacPherson Mall and the Geylang East Public Library are both a short walk away, along with a residential estate and several places of worship reflecting the area’s mixed community.
Not directly — Mattar itself only serves the Downtown Line. The nearest Circle Line connection is one stop away at MacPherson, which is often quicker than backtracking on foot.
Not particularly — MacPherson Mall nearby is a small neighbourhood centre rather than a large shopping mall, so it’s mainly a residential stop for locals rather than visitors.
