Hume station in detail

Hume is the youngest station on the Downtown Line by a wide margin. Its shell was built alongside the rest of Downtown Line 2 back in 2015, but with too few homes around it to justify a stop, it stayed shut for a decade while trains rushed straight through on the way to Beauty World. It finally opened on 28 February 2025, once the condominiums along Chestnut Avenue and Petir Road had filled in around it. The area is still quiet and largely residential, with the nearest shops a stop away at Hillview or Beauty World. For transport enthusiasts, Hume is a small piece of MRT history — the closest the network has to a station that had to wait ten years for its own neighbourhood to catch up.

Facilities at Hume
Hume only opened in February 2025, so some older maps, satnav apps and journey planners may still show trains running straight through without stopping — double check that yours has been updated before you rely on it to plan a trip here.

Hume — frequently asked questions
Hume (DT4) opened on 28 February 2025. Its shell was actually built ten years earlier, in 2015, alongside the rest of Downtown Line Stage 2, but it stayed closed until enough housing had been built around it to justify a stop.
When Downtown Line 2 opened in 2015 there wasn’t enough housing or ridership around the site to justify running trains through open doors, so LTA left it sealed while trains passed through, finally opening it once nearby condominiums were completed.
Mainly residential — recently completed condominiums along Chestnut Avenue and Petir Road. For shops and food, the nearest options are one stop away at either Hillview or Beauty World.
