Tanjong Pagar sits in the Central Business District, at the edge of the restaurant and nightlife strip along Tanjong Pagar Road and Duxton Hill. It is the station for Guoco Tower, one of the city's tallest buildings, and for a cluster of restored shophouses that now house bars, cafes and specialty restaurants. On weekdays the station is dominated by office workers; on evenings and weekends the surrounding streets fill with a younger crowd drawn to Duxton Hill's bars and the area's restaurant scene, giving the neighbourhood two quite different rhythms depending on the time of day.
