Lakeside is the closest MRT station to Jurong Lake Gardens and was historically the station for the former Jurong Bird Park, before its relocation to Mandai. It remains a useful base for exploring the wider Jurong Lake District, a waterfront area of parks, boardwalks and gardens that the government has been steadily expanding.
