Jurong East MRT station

Jurong East station in detail

Jurong East is the western end of the North South Line and one of only two places on the network where NSL and East West Line trains share the same platforms, a legacy of how the line was extended in stages back in the 1980s. Trains terminate and reverse here, so it is worth checking the destination shown on the platform display rather than just the platform number before boarding. Above ground the station sits between three shopping malls — JEM, Westgate and IMM — all linked by covered walkways, and beside Jurong East Bus Interchange, one of the busiest in the west. A fourth line, the Jurong Region Line, is under construction here and due to open from 2028, which will eventually turn this into a triple interchange.
Changing lines here is free. You stay inside the paid area and the fare is worked out once, from the distance of your whole journey.

Facilities at Jurong East
Because two lines share platforms here, check the destination on the display before boarding, not just the platform number — a train signed Bukit Batok is the North South Line, one signed Chinese Garden is the East West Line, even on the same platform.
