Thanggam station in detail

Thanggam, whose name means gold in Tamil, is best known for the pedestrian bridge that connects the station concourse over Fernvale Road and on to Lorong Samak, putting the Jalan Kayu food street within a genuine, if not short, walk of five to ten minutes. That makes it one of the more worthwhile detours on the West Loop for anyone chasing prata or the area's other well-known eateries, even though the walk itself passes terrace houses and a church rather than anything scenic. Otherwise it's a fairly standard residential stop, four stops out from Sengkang, serving the HDB blocks that fill this stretch of the loop.

Facilities at Thanggam
Use the overhead bridge from the station concourse rather than looking for a street-level route to Jalan Kayu — it spans Fernvale Road directly and continues to Lorong Samak, and it's the route locals actually use.
