Sixth Avenue MRT station

Sixth Avenue station in detail

Sixth Avenue was the first MRT station in Singapore built inside a private residential estate rather than beside a main road, and it still feels that way: the exits open onto quiet streets of bungalows and semi-detached houses rather than shopfronts. It takes its name from Sixth Avenue, a road connecting Bukit Timah Road and Holland Road through the district's landed housing. Hwa Chong International School sits roughly a 10-15 minute walk south. Beyond the school run and the residents who live here, there is little reason to get off — the station exists mainly to give this pocket of the Bukit Timah housing belt a direct line into town, and most visitors will simply pass through on the way to Tan Kah Kee or King Albert Park.

Facilities at Sixth Avenue
There's very little to eat right around Sixth Avenue itself — if you're passing through, it's easier to wait for Tan Kah Kee or Beauty World, both a couple of minutes away by train, where there's proper food and shopping.

Sixth Avenue — frequently asked questions
It was the first MRT station in Singapore built inside a private housing estate rather than beside a main road, so its exits open onto quiet residential streets instead of shopfronts.
Barely — just a handful of small local shops. The exits are surrounded by bungalows and semi-detached housing, so for anything more you’ll want Tan Kah Kee or Beauty World, each a short ride away.
Only the Downtown Line (DT7), between King Albert Park and Tan Kah Kee. There is no interchange at this station, so you’ll need to change lines elsewhere if you’re heading beyond the Downtown Line’s route.
