Pioneer station in detail

Pioneer sits on the western stretch of the East West Line, serving the light industrial and residential area around Boon Lay Way and West Coast, including student housing linked to Nanyang Technological University. It opened in 2009 as part of the westward extension towards Joo Koon, and it remains a fairly quiet station with limited retail beyond a small commercial block, mostly used by workers and students rather than visitors, and there is little reason for a casual traveller to break a journey here.

Facilities at Pioneer
There is little reason to break a journey at Pioneer unless you have business at NTU or in the surrounding industrial estate — most amenities are limited and better found at Boon Lay or Jurong Point, one stop back.
