MacPherson station in detail

MacPherson is where the Circle Line crosses the Downtown Line, in the middle of a mixed estate of housing, workshops and light industry rather than around any single landmark. For commuters it is one of the clearest examples of the Circle Line's role as a shortcut across the network: travelling from the Downtown Line towards the eastern side of the loop — Stadium or Esplanade, say — changing here avoids a longer ride via the city centre. The two lines share a concourse, so the transfer is free and takes only a minute or two. Around the station, Circuit Road's market and food centre supply the neighbourhood's everyday needs, and the surrounding streets are largely residential blocks and small trading estates.
Changing lines here is free. You stay inside the paid area and the fare is worked out once, from the distance of your whole journey.
