Rochor station in detail

Rochor is a compact, functional station wedged between Little India and Bugis, best known to shoppers as the fast way into Sim Lim Square — one exit puts you at the electronics mall's door in about two minutes. The area above ground has changed enormously since the old Rochor Centre, the distinctive circular public housing block that once stood here, was demolished in 2019 to make way for the North-South Corridor expressway. What's left is a mix of older shophouses, hawker stalls and hostels around Rochor Canal Road and Prinsep Street, with the Sultan Mosque and Kampong Glam a walkable extension beyond Bugis. It is not a destination in its own right so much as a quick, useful stop for anyone hunting for a laptop, phone or camera bargain.
