Kranji station in detail

Kranji sits at the edge of Singapore's rural north, and its character has shifted sharply in recent years. It was built with an oversized concourse to handle race-day crowds for the neighbouring Singapore Turf Club, reached by a sheltered walkway, but the Turf Club held its last race in October 2024 and the grounds are now used only as an event venue while the site awaits redevelopment into housing from around 2027. Across Woodlands Road, Kranji War Memorial commemorates Commonwealth service personnel from the Second World War and remains open to visitors year-round, and the adjoining Kranji State Cemetery is the resting place of Singapore's first president, Yusof Ishak, among other early national leaders. Further out, the station is also the usual bus connection point for Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve and the farms of the Kranji countryside, both a short ride rather than a walk away.

Facilities at Kranji
If you are visiting Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, plan for a bus connection rather than walking — it is not within comfortable walking distance of the station. Check bus timings in advance, as services on this stretch run less frequently than in town.

Take a bus from outside the station — the reserve is a roughly 15-minute ride away and not a practical walk. Check current bus routes before you travel, as services in this area are less frequent.
