Marina South Pier station in detail

Marina South Pier is the southern terminus of the North South Line, a single-platform station built mainly to serve the ferry terminal and cruise centre beside it rather than any large residential population. From here, ferries run to the Southern Islands — St John's Island, Kusu Island and Lazarus Island — making this the usual starting point for a day trip away from the mainland. The Marina Bay Cruise Centre, used by larger cruise ships, sits close by too. Beyond the pier and the cruise centre, the surrounding area is still largely reclaimed, undeveloped land earmarked for future growth, so there is little reason to linger at street level beyond catching a boat.
