Toa Payoh station in detail

Toa Payoh sits at the centre of one of Singapore's oldest satellite towns, and the station is built into HDB Hub, the headquarters of the Housing and Development Board and also a shopping and dining complex in its own right. Toa Payoh Bus Interchange is integrated with the same building, and Toa Payoh Library, the town's swimming complex and Toa Payoh Town Park — with its dragon playground and lake — are all within an easy walk. The town itself was one of the pioneering new towns of the 1960s and 70s, and still has a strong sense of neighbourhood identity, with wet markets and older coffee shops alongside the newer HDB Hub development.
