Choa Chu Kang station in detail

Choa Chu Kang is where the North South Line meets the Bukit Panjang LRT, whose loop of light-rail stations begins and ends on the upper level here. The two systems share a common ground-level concourse but sit behind separate fare gates, so changing between them means tapping out of one and tapping back into the other — done within 15 minutes, it is still charged as a single journey. The station sits directly beneath Lot One Shoppers' Mall and next to Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange, making it the commercial centre of Choa Chu Kang New Town. It has long served as a stepping-off point for the western countryside, though most of the old farms nearby have given way to new housing, and to Tengah, Singapore's newest town, just to the south.
Changing lines here is free. You stay inside the paid area and the fare is worked out once, from the distance of your whole journey.
