Downtown station in detail

Downtown sits in the thick of the Marina Bay Financial Centre district, underneath Central Boulevard, with exits feeding straight into the office towers of Asia Square, One Raffles Quay, OUE Downtown and Marina Bay Suites. On weekdays it is one of the busiest stations on the line during the morning and evening rush, filled with office workers rather than tourists — the CBD's newest financial precinct grew up around this station rather than the other way round. Marina Bay Sands and the waterfront promenade are a 10-15 minute walk, or one stop away at Bayfront, and Telok Ayer's older shophouse quarter is equally close in the other direction. Weekends here are noticeably quieter, once the towers empty out.
